ALL OUT OF MERINOS....SO SORRY

I thought I would post a picture of the shelves where the Merinos use to call home.... they have a good home now....all 98 skeins of them. They are loved and no longer have to live at the Knitting Workshop and have strangers paw them all the time.

Pepper Weighs in on the Copious Cute Cat Parade

"Those cats are way getting too much attention. Now rub my tummy."

Pepper is a member of my brother's familly and one of the highlights of going to see them every year is getting to spend some time with her. For a teeny tiny Chihuahua, she sure loves her some cuddling!

Yam, I'm so glad you're posting! Sorry it took so long to notice.

I mentioned in my last post that I might have a new job. Well, it's now official and I start tomorrow. I will be working with Patty at Stainless Sales Corp. On Wendesday I met most of the people with whom I will be working, and they all seem happy in their jobs and committed to their work. What more can you ask for?

I don't have to tell you how relieved I am. I was heading into the land of very scary, and now I'm not!

But I'm going to be pretty busy through the rest of the month. I had already committed to 6 Fitfare and 2 Foodbound posts for July for the Wellfed network, and I'm teaching two knitting classes. What was I thinking? At least most of the posts are for recipes I've already made--I just need to write about them.

But today I'm frantically cooking because I have to make a couple of them now. I also went to the Farmer's Market yesterday where I bought copious amounts of cheap basil, so I also have to throw together a quick pesto. Yum!

Next week should be interesting--it's been a long time since I've had a Monday-Friday 8-5 schedule, so you may not hear from me until the week after.

Cheap Cheapy Cheap

I found this store through one of the Stitch and Bitches, it's in a mall in Kowloon Bay - GB Woollen. Nice shop with some Rowan and Jaeger. There were a couple of ladies sitting on stools working on their projects. I went in to look for circular needles, and I bought a couple of balls of Rowan 4 ply soft to make some socks for Jeff. He loves the pair I made with the Regia, so I think he will really enjoy the 4 ply socks. Two skeins of Rowan 4 ply soft and 1 pair of Addi circulars sz 7/ 32", totalled less than $15 US. Yup, I paid about $3.20 for the needles.

CRAZY!!! I don't think that they are Addi turbos, but even so, I was excited.

Deep Thoughts

Hola chicas. This is the very elegant and dignified Otto. He is the only cat who has not been whining at 2 am every day. Ugghhh, I don't know what they want, but it's driving me nuts. So, I will be taking more pictures of my recently competed projects, I finished the short sleeve cable sweater from Vogue, I think Mary W is making this too, it looks great, I also finally finished the Loop d Loop medallion cardigan, I'm knitting a tank to go under it, so that will go up this week. And I also started knitting a wrap with the gorgeous mohair yarn Louann gave me. More pictures coming - promise!
It's raining again, it always rains, everyday. Kinda like it.
I love love love my knitting group. The down side is that we only meet once a week, at Starbucks and for only 1.5 hours. There's a couple of us, who are planning to get together during the week, during the day, so that will be nice. However, I think I'm going to be offered the position at the YMCA soon. I had a very good 2nd interview, and the woman who interviewed me is moving to Shanghai at the end of July, so she wants me in place before she goes. I am hoping the my work/dependent VISA will be ready. Not sure what the plan will be if it does not happen in the 4-6 weeks it is supposed to take to process. Anyway, my days of sloth and boredom may be over soon. I finally found a yarn store I like, I'll do a post about that seperately. That's about all - oh BTW - our stuff still has not left Chicago - good grief.

Happy Fourth of July!!!!!

Happy Fourth of July, Yam!

How did you guys spend it over there? Did you find any ex-pat celebrations or anything?

I spent the day with me, just myself. I made a lovely dinner that I'm writing about on my blog.

I tried to find an image of fireworks with the skyline, but this is the only thing that came up that I'm pretty sure doesn't have any copyright issues. Let's hope I'm not wrong! So just picture those flares going off all over that picture.

I have some good news--I'm pretty sure I have a job. I'll know for sure tomorrow, then I'll tell you all about it.
