Hong Kong Chronicles

(I got this here. I hope it means what I think it means)

Last month our good friend Yamilett was torn from our arms and shuffled halfway around the world from Chicago, Illinois, to Hong Kong. What an adventure she and her husband are going to have! How exciting it's going to be for her to learn all about life in a foreign land! What culinary delights she's going to discover! What wonderful new friends she's going to make! How much fun shopping she'll have!

How much we will miss her. :(

Before they left, she and her husband had to get rid of most of their stuff. The week before they were leaving they had a major moving sale. I was fortunate enough to be the recipient of many wonderful tools, gadgets, spices, and foods at the end of the day (so to speak).

And it occurred to me that until Yamilett has settled in enough to have those wonderful adventures, meet those wonderful people, discover those wonderful shops and restaurants, and travel around, she might feel just a wee bit homesick.

So what would be a good way to help Yamilett feel a little less alone over there on the other side of the world?

Why this here blog, of course.

The purpose of this blog is threefold. First, I decided that I have to use every single item I got from Yamilett, so she'll know everything went to a good home. I will document my usage here. Second, I thought we could use this blog to let Yamilett know what's going on here in Chicago, so she won't feel so homesick.

And third, we all want to know how Yamilett is doing in her new life, so I'm hoping she'll stop in and let us know what she's up to every once in a while. (Actually, I hope it's more than every once in a while but I don't want her to feel too much pressure.)

So Yamilett, this blog's for you. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Hey Deb! This is a great idea - wow, I think I'm kinda weepy. Very cool. I'll be sure to stop in often, I gotta take pix of my recently completed projects, pix of the local scenery, monkey pix, photos of the wet markets, you will appreciate, etc. Sounds fun, and I look forward to the first entry of the Yamilett Project.
See you soon!
